r = radius or distance = jari-jari atau jarak

U = potential energy = energi potensial (di Indonesia biasa ditulis EP)
v = velocity or speed = kecepatan atau kelajuan
W = work = usaha
x = position = posisi / kedudukan
μ (baca "mu") = coefficient of friction = koefisien gesekan

( baca "tau") = torque = torsi = momen puntir
